Making A Mini Book
Mini books are very easy to make, and can be used for many homeschooling applications. They are popular for lap book folders, but you can use them for many things.
To begin, simply take a piece of paper of your choice. A standard piece of typing paper is fine, but a piece of construction paper will make a slightly larger book, and provide a spot of color. Lay your paper in front of you and fold it from top to bottom, crease well, then fold again from top to bottom. Open it up, and your paper will be folded into fourths. |

Lay it sideways, then fold in half in that direction, again creasing well. When you finish, your paper will be divided into 8 equal sections, which I have highlighted in the picture. The black line is the line you will be cutting in just a moment. |

You will need to cut the middle of the paper. You could just cut it with a craft knife, but an easier and safer method is to simply fold it in half again from top to bottom, and cut from the middle fold over to the next crease, as in the picture. Unfold again. |

Fold in half again from side to side, as you did for the final crease. Holding both ends, push in gently until the middle sections push outward, creating a diamond. Continue bringing the ends in until the paper comes completely together. Fold the pages around into a book shape. |

You'll find it easiest to work with this book if you take a little time to lightly glue the insides of the pages together (where the unseen sides touch each other), otherwise it tends to want to pop back out of place. Fill your book with information and/or decorations, and if you want to include it in a lap book folder, just glue the back of it into the folder.
